Friday, May 5th 2000: Friday Night Freedom Card #2 - Match #2 Psycho Psychic & Celtic Mage vs. Monoxide Child & SuperBeast Authour: Jeff Davidson (Grim Reaper) [Assistant CEO] Match: Tag-Team. Rules: Standard Rules. Title: Tag-Team Commentators: James Colburn, Iaian McBride. ______________________________________________________________________ McBride: Hey, isn’t the next match a tag match? Colburn: Why, yes it is. I’m surprised you remembered. McBride: Hey, I’m not a complete dufus like some of our cameramen. Colburn: That’s debatable. McBride: Hey! Colburn: Anyway, it happens to be the HDW’s first tag match, and of course, it’s for the Tag Championship Belts. McBride: As I understand it, The Celtic Mage is the one who requested the match, and he’s teamed himself up with the seven foot giant Psycho Psychic. Colburn: Yeah, probably the best partner you could ask for. Of course, their opponents aren’t exactly pushovers. Superbeast and Monoxide Child are both formidable opponents. McBride: Except they are just coming off of some majorly damaging matches. I’m not so sure they will be 100% for this match. (Gothic flickers onto the viewscreen) Colburn: Looks like we are ready to start. Gothic: Good evening, the following Tag Team contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, standing at 6 feet even, and weighing in at 220 pounds, Monoxide Child! ("Blink" by Twiztid starts playing over the speakers as the lights go out. Smoke pours in from everywhere and flashes of light periodically light up the arena. Monoxide Child emerges from the stage, seemingly out of the smoke. He psychs himself up and then proceeds down the ramp.) McBride: Monoxide Child is definitely one tough dude. I can’t believe he’s even here after his match with Mad Rapper. Colburn: Yeah, that match was brutal. Mad Rapper is one crazy guy. McBride: Why do you think he’s called the MAD Rapper? Colburn: Good point. Gothic: And his Tag Team partner, standing at 6’8", and weighing in at 320 pounds, Superbeast! (The lights are dimmed. A spotlight is shone on the stage as two men in tan suits pull out a cage like in Jurassic Park. One of the men climbs on top of it and opens the door. As the door opens, "Of Wolf and Man" starts playing and Superbeast walks out with his arms tied behind his back, roaring and growling. The two men bring out tazer guns and follow him to the ring. When they reach it, they untie Superbeast and leave quickly. Superbeast wanders around the ring growling as the men take the cage away.) McBride: Isn’t this in violation of the leash laws? Colburn: Probably. But do you want to tell him that? McBride: Hell no! You won’t tell him I said that will you? Colburn: Nah. I’d have to break in a new partner if I did that. (Superbeast exits the ring and stands by Monoxide Child. They shake hands and talk amongst themselves) Gothic: And their opponents, at a combined weight of 869 pounds, and standing at 7’2", and 6’10" respectively, Psycho Psychic and The Celtic Mage! (The Gregorian chanting comes over the speakers as the lights turn an ominous red color. Mist rises up from both the ring and the stage. Psycho Psychic rises out of the ring as The Celtic Mage rises up from the stage. Psycho raises both his hands and the lights return to normal. The Celtic Mage walks down to the ring and joins Psycho in the corner.) McBride: Well, the ref is in and the match should start shortly. I would just like to take this time to point out that this is The Celtic Mage’s first match in the HDW. Colburn: *sarcasticly* Oh! So that’s why I haven’t seen him before. Thanks for pointing out the obvious Iaian. McBride: You’re lucky I’m a non-violent kinda guy, otherwise I might have to hurt you. Colburn: Whatever. Anyway, the ref has called for the bell and we are underway. It looks like Psycho and Beast will start us off. (Beast and Psycho begin to circle each other, sizing each other up. Beast offers his hands and he and Psycho tie up. They push against each other, but neither one gives away and they break it up. Beast decides he’s sized Psycho enough and runs at him. Psycho dodges, but Beast bounces off the ropes and launches himself at Psycho. Psycho is taken by surprise and gets taken to the ground. Beast begins to unwail on Psycho’s face with some hard punches.) McBride: That’s a good way to start off a match. Get your face pounded on by a wild animal. Colburn: Well, he didn’t get pounded for long. He just threw Beast off with some major authority. It's hard to believe that he still has so much power in his arms after all of the injuries he received from the scythe of the Reaper. (Beast lands three feet away from Psycho and Psycho gets up. Beast recovers and tries a different plan of attack by going for Psycho’s legs. Psycho grabs Beast by the waist and stops him dead in his tracks. Psycho then puts Beast into a powerbomb position and sends him hard into the mat with a release powerbomb.) Colburn: Oh, man! That was good strategy by Beast, but just plain raw power from Psycho. McBride: It sure as hell didn’t slow Beast down though, he’s right back up and going for the legs again. (Beast once again lunges at Psycho’s legs and Psycho grabs him by the waist again. But this time Beast grabs Psycho’s right leg and starts chewing on it. Psycho releases Beast and then tries to pry his leg away. The ref finally notices the biting and tells Beast to release it immediately. Beast does so and Psycho hobbles to his corner and tags in Celtic Mage. Psycho’s leg is bleeding and Beast’s mouth has a bit of blood on it. Beast wipes it away and spits out of the ring.) Colburn: I guess they forgot to feed him today. I wonder what that tastes like? McBride: Dude, that’s disgusting. Who are you, Hannibal Lecter? Colburn: I was just wondering, sheesh. McBride: At any rate, now Psycho Psychic has to deal with one more injury, and it may just be enough to stop him. (Meanwhile, Celtic Mage has launched an all out attack on Beast. Celtic Mage whipped Beast into the corner and is now pummeling him with kicks and punches and a couple knees. The referee breaks it up and Beast goes down on one knee, holding his chest. Celtic Mage goes to grab Beast by the head but Beast counters with a hard punch to Celtic Mage’s stomach. He then rolls to his corner and tags in Monoxide Child, who immediately runs up to Celtic Mage and DDT’s him. Monoxide covers but only gets a one count.) Colburn: Man, it’s way too early to try something like that. Monoxide should know better. McBride: Hey, for a guy in his condition, even a DDT is impressive. (Monoxide picks up Celtic Mage and goes for a roundhouse, but Celtic Mage parries it by grabbing Monoxide’s leg. Monoxide falls to the ground and Celtic Mage elbow drops Monoxide’s inner thigh.) Colburn: Do you think Monoxide was going for Face Cancer? McBride: Could be. He tried to pin early, why not try a finisher early? (Celtic Mage climbs the turnbuckle and moonsaults Monoxide, who is still on the mat.) Colburn: Monoxide is in some serious pain. Maybe those injuries have finally caught up with him? McBride: I would say you’re right. (Monoxide grips his abdomen and rolls around on the mat. He manages to get to his corner and tag in Beast, who is fully recovered. Beast jumps in and he and Celtic Mage tie up. Monoxide rolls to the outside, still in pain. In the opposite corner, Psycho’s leg has stopped bleeding and he is waiting patiently. Beast wins out in the grapple and grabs Celtic Mage by the throat. In an immense display of power, Beast choke tosses Mage to the mat. Mage is a bit stunned and Beast jumps on him and begins to pound away at Mage’s face.) Colburn: I didn’t think Beast had that much energy left! He is one tough customer! McBride: I definitely wouldn’t want him as an enemy, that’s for sure! (Beast stops pounding on Mage and picks him up. He whips him into the corner where Psycho is standing and proceeds with the Call of the Wild. Psycho makes a blind tag, but Beast doesn’t even notice, he is focussed on pummeling Mage’s chest. Beast finishes with a quick slam in the middle of the ring and then proceeds to cover Mage, but Psycho jumps in and pulls Beast off of him. Psycho gives Beast a quick kick in the gut and then puts him into a gorilla press. He holds him there for a few seconds then drops him down into an X-factor.) McBride: Oh, man. That must have been the Hellraiser! That looked painful. Colburn: Hey! Beast just got right back up! (Beast goes for a solid punch to Psycho’s face but Psycho kicsk him in the gut again and sets him up for a powerbomb. He does three, followed by a release powerbomb.) McBride: And there’s the Graveyard Slam...what!? Beast is getting up again! I can’t believe this guy! Colburn: Neither can Psycho, look at his face. (Psycho’s face is one of absolute bewilderment. Beast once again gets up but suddenly Mage grabs him from behind and gets him into a reverse vertical suplex. He drops Beast down into a stunner and Beast is layed out on the mat.) McBride: Good God! So that’s the Guillotine!? I’m surprised Beast’s head is still on his shoulders. Colburn: Man! Beast is totally out this time, there’s no way he can get up after moves like that! (Psycho covers Beast and we hear the familiar 1...2...3.) Colburn: It’s over! Psycho and Mage are the champions! But a damn good fight from Beast and Monoxide, even in their battered condition! McBride: Psycho and Mage are now being given their belts and boy, do they deserve them. ( Psycho and Mage shake each other’s hands and then hold up their belts. The crowd cheers and they put the belts on. Meanwhile, Beast wakes up and gets up off the mat. Psycho and Mage notice this and tense up a bit. Beast looks at them and smiles. He nods at them and then exits the ring. Monoxide is being helped away from the ring by a medic and Carbon Monoxide, who ran out from the back as soon as the match ended. He nods at Beast as he passes by. Beast nods back.) McBride: Man, talk about sportsmanship. These guys oughta get medals or something. Colburn: I think both teams were equally deserving of a win. Mage and Psycho were just in better condition. I’m sure the fans wouldn’t mind seeing these two teams again at 100%. McBride: I know I wouldn’t. Let’s hope they have a speedy recovery. Colburn: Wait, something is happening onstage. It looks like Psycho Psychic and Celtic Mage are really pissed off. McBride: Look at that! The belts broke from shoddy workmanship, what is this? (The viewscreen flickers on and we see Gothic.) Gothic: Due to a technicality, the belts can only belong to a registered Tag-team, which registration begins tomorrow. Oh wait, shouldn't I have said this before you all got the sh*t kicked out of you? Must have slipped my mind. Hehehe, better luck next time. (The viewscreen flickers off.) Colburn: Can he do that? McBride: They look really pissed off, they just weren't expecting that, it can't be fair at all! Colburn: I can't believe what just happened, after all that hard work! McBride: This is definitely gonna give Gothic some enemies at HDW.
