Wednesday, August 2nd 2000: Wednesday Night Death from Above Card #15 - Match #1 Quinn Vs. William Author: Jeff Davidson [Vice President] Match: Rollercoaster match. Rules: First one knocked off loses. Titles: None. Commentators: Iaian McBride, James Colburn. _______________________________________________________________ McBride: Great! Another pay-per-view! Colburn: More bloodshed! McBride: ...right. Colburn: Hurry up with the reviews, I wanna get to this card quick. McBride: Well, our first match was pretty cool. Colburn: My personal favorite! McBride: Yeah, man DAND Vs. Quinn...it's hard to know what to point out. Colburn: Although spikes piercing flesh is a good start. McBride: Yeah...now how the heck did those two walk away from that?! Colburn: Well...they are amonng the few with the high threshold of pain. McBride: I guess, dude, but goddamn. Colburn: The next one was great too! McBride: Yeah...floating platforms! Who knew Alena could hold her breath that long! Colburn: Yeah she still lost...all the blood... McBride: You're referring to the water? Colburn: Oh yeah...some great moves in that. Yet again, another match worth attention of the world! McBride: The next one was basically a victimization match. Colburn: No sh*t, poor Shadow. McBride: Well, who knows? Maybe he'll do better in the future? Colburn: Not with those two watching him. McBride: Good point. Next was the controlled gravity match! Colburn: A lot of cool stunts, although the gravity well at the end was great! McBride: That stupid drug almost cost Alena her life though. I wish they'd just ban the damn thing. Colburn: What? It could be useful! McBride: Is it worth that much? Colburn: ...well, anyway that has to be the shortest review in history. McBride: Well I could go into-- Colburn: Alright, enough of that Iaian, it's time to shut up and watch the blood spill. McBride: Oh come on. There can't be too much blood in this match. Colburn: Why not!? McBride: For one thing, William and Quinn will be too busy trying to stay on the rollercoaster to really land any good strikes. Colburn: And what's another thing? McBride: ...I haven't thought of any yet, but I'll get back to you on that. Colburn: You are pathetic. I, personally, am looking forward to vast amounts of bloodshed and multiple injuries on both parts. McBride: Injuries I can see happening, but blood, no. Colburn: Well, we'll soon see. (The Havoc Viewscreen flickers to life. We see Gothic standing by the controls for the rollercoaster, smiling. In the background, the coaster can be heard rumbling along the tracks. Quinn and William are standing by the entrance to the coaster putting on the magnetic pads.) Gothic: As you can see our contestants are nearly ready and the coaster has been given a warm-up run. The match shall begin when the coaster returns to the start once again. McBride: Kickin'. Colburn: That's a new one. McBride: Not really. Gothic: Ahem. As I was saying, the coaster is coming around the last turn now so wrestlers, good luck. [on the screen] (Gothic walks off the screen as the coaster slows to a stop in front of Quinn and William. They leap onto it and climb around on it for a few seconds.) [at the table] McBride: So how are we supposed to see the action anyway? Colburn: They have a camera attached to the back on a bar or something. McBride: Ah, I see. Just one? Colburn: That's all they could fit. Don't worry, it'll do fine. McBride: I suppose. [screen] (The view switches to the camera behind the coaster. We see Quinn and William already grappling as the ride begins to move. As the ride begins to ascend we catch a glimpse of Alena and Nadia watching from the ground. The ride ascends slowly as Quinn and William begin exchanging fists.) [table] McBride: Wow, they're getting more physical than I thought they would. Colburn: Oh, come on. It's just little love taps right now. [screen] (Quinn suddenly winds up and nails William in the face with a hard left hook. William falls off, but manages to grab onto the very edge of the coaster and climb back up.) [table] McBride: You call that a love tap? Colburn: Well, no, that was a punch. A hard one at that. [screen] (The coaster reaches the top of the hill and then begins to descend. Quinn and William tense up and begin to exchange fists once again. This time William wins out with an uppercut to Quinn's jaw which forces Quinn backward. William follows up with a kick to Quinn's stomach, but Quinn dodges it pushes William away with his legs while hanging onto the ride with his hand pads.) [table] Colburn: Looks like we're going to be watching mostly fisticuffs this time. McBride: What do you expect? It's a freakin' rollercoaster! Colburn: Touchy, touchy. [screen] (William flips over and sticks his hand pads on the ride, then swings his legs over at Quinn's head. Quinn dodges and grabs William's legs with his own. He then pulls William off the ride and throws him off. Luckily, the ride circles downward and William manages to land back on the ride, slighly winded from the hard impact.) [table] Colburn: Whoah! That was cool! McBride: I'll say! William is one lucky s.o.b. [screen] William: (heavy breathing) Ha ha, lady luck is shining on me today. Quinn: Nuts, I was so close too. (Quinn climbs over to where William is and tries to kick him off again. William counters by kicking Quinn's leg away and using his other leg to kick him in the side. Quinn rolls with it and roundhouses William in the head. William slips off again, but catches himself quickly.) Quinn: Sticky bastard aren't you? William: Hehehe...just like glue. (Quinn again tries to kick William off, but William sticks his hands opposite each other and flip kicks Quinn in the chin. Quinn is flipped backward but he manages to stick his feet to the ride before falling off.) [table] Colburn: How many close calls is that now!? 5? 6? McBride: I don't know, but there's a lot of them. Colburn: And just how powerful are those darn pads? McBride: Knowing Gothic, just powerful enough to make things interesting. Colburn: Probably. [screen] Quinn: Nice trick. William: Thank you, I got lots more. (William tries to thrust kick Quinn off the ride, but Quinn grabs William's leg with both of his and then juts his legs forward and kicks William in the head with both feet. This sends William back a couple feet and he barely manages to catch himself.) Quinn: So do I. [table] McBride: Heh, funny stuff. Colburn: What was funny? McBride: Nothin', nevermind. Colburn: ...Fine. [screen] (The ride reaches a spin the track and William uses the momentum to throw himself towards Quinn. He hits Quinn qith both feet right in the chest and Quinn spins off the ride. However, the ride comes back around and smashes into him. Despite the hard impact he manages to stick on to something.) William: Now who's the sticky bastard!? Quinn: (coughing) Ouch. (The ride reaches a very fast point and both Quinn and William elect to just hang on.) [table] McBride: Ugh. This camera angle is making me sick. Colburn: Bah, a little camera motion never hurt anyone. McBride: Yeah, but the ground and the sky keep switching places. Colburn: (stares at the screen for a while) ...I see your point. [screen] (The ride begins to slow as it ascends a hill. William and Quinn immediately begin to exchange fists once again. Quinn suddenly flips his legs up and kicks William's hand that is holding him onto the ride. William falls but manages to grab Quinn's legs. Quinn tries to shake him off but William punches him hard in the groin. Quinn's eyes go wide and he freezes. This allows William to climb up and reattach himself to the ride.) Quinn: That...wasn't...very..nice. William: Sorry, but I had to stop you from kicking. Quinn: Growl! (Just as the ride descends the hill Quinn lunges at William and wraps his legs around him. He then begins to pummel William with his free hands. William gets a few cuts on his face from all the punches, and when Quinn finishes, he throws William off the ride with his legs while simultaneously reattaching to the ride with his legs. Amazingly, William manages to catch himself on the pole that the camera is attached to.) Quinn: Goddamnit! Why won't you fall?! [table] Colburn: I think Quinn is a little upset. McBride: Well, doi. Colburn: I mean come on. William is surviving on pure luck here! McBride: It works doesn't it!? Colburn: Well, yeah, but... McBride: Would you prefer the match ended too short? Colburn: ...No. McBride: Then shut up and watch the match. [screen] (William begins to slowly make his way back to the ride, but Quinn quickly climbs over and lies in wait at the end of the pole. William stops and stares at Quinn.) William: Uh oh. Quinn: Smile, you're on candid camera. (Quinn begins hitting the camera pole as hard as he can. The screen snows up every time he does so. After a few hits, the snow clears and we see rapidly approaching ground.) William: Ah, shi--! (mic cuts out as does the camera) [table] McBride: Dude! What happened!? Colburn: Baka! William was hanging onto the camera pole and Quinn broke it off. What do you think happened!? McBride: Oh...poor William. Colburn: No sh*t. [screen] (The view returns and we see Nadia and Alena by the water. Pieces of camera are strewn about in the area of the water and the ground looks to have been severely disturbed.) Nadia: William! (waits) Damnit! I'm going in! Alena: I'll help! (They dive into the water. A few moments later they surface carrying an unconscious William. They bring him to the shore and the paramedics arrive and begin tending to him.) [table] McBride: What the heck happened? Colburn: I'm hearing that William crashed into the ground and then rolled into the water. McBride: Ouch. That'll leave a mark. Colburn: Definitely. [screen] Nadia: How is he? Paramedic: Possibly broken neck, broken arm, and definitely a concussion. (Quinn walks into the picture. Alena turns to him.) Alena: Alex! Why'd you have to go and do that!? Quinn: Say what? Alena: You could've waited another second and William would've landed in the water! Nadia: It's alright! It wasn't his fault. Alena: Still...it wasn't very nice Alex! Quinn: But he wasn't even--...aww, forget it. (The paramedics load William into an ambulance and Nadia climbs in with him. They drive off, sirens blaring. Quinn looks back and William winks at him, before Nadia cradles him in her arms.) Quinn: Hey! That SOB is fak-- Alena: What? Quinn: (points at the ambulance) I--I probably would have done the same thing. Alena: Huh? Done what? Quinn: Nevermind. Come on, we have to get you back for your match. Alena: I suppose...Alex, tell me! (Quinn just laughs as the screen flickers off.) [table] Colburn: Wow, that was quite a first match for the night. McBride: I'll say. William is in pretty bad shape, wonder if he'll be able to make it for the World Title free-for-all? Colburn: You--(laughs)...Something tells me he'll make it. McBride: Very true. Don't go away folks, we've got plenty more to come from the Havoc Dominion! Colburn: Hopefully some more blood! McBride: Ah, dude! Enough already!
