Rules of Play
- Be the first to get five in a row!
- Pick either black or white and play against a friend.
- Click on the board to put down pieces.
- Pieces go down on lines, not on spaces.
- It can be a bit tricky, since the size of the board is pretty big (19x19 Go Board.)
- HINT: The computer is tough, but she makes mistakes.
- HINT: She just loves to gloat.
About
I'm a big Go fan, but sometimes we would pull out the board and play this instead. It was an easy way
to relax between Go games.
This game was written as a tutorial demonstration of AllegroGL and to show off some basic stuff.
The source code has been included. It was done as a structural C example, so don't expect anything too fancy.
Technical Stuff
- The AI occasionally makes mistakes. I would fix her... but then I wouldn't beat her anymore.
- Code was written using Dev C++. I've since switched to Eclipse (Ganymede) which is great.
- OpenGL, AllegroPNG, DUMB, and AllegroGL were the libraries of choice.
- Music was written using openMPT. If you can spare the change, FL Studio is a great choice.
- Graphics were made in GIMP. Again, if you have money, I highly recommend Macromedia Fireworks.
- The Goban isn't mine. I swiped it off Adam at Goproblems.com.
- Everything else (including this page) was done in Notepad.
My games are made with free tools. You can do it too!
